Electronic Circuits Volume 1.2 May 1, 2010 Peter M. Flores (New Orleans) This book has an abundance of electronic circuits and varied categories of projects. For some of the projects, a PC board layout is also availabe.
Unfortunately, some of the projects were designed to operate from non-U.S. voltages, i.e., 240 volts @ 50 hertz. Although the average hobbyist may quickly identify the variations and make changes accordingly, not everyone interested in electronic circuits may observe the required modifications or even discern what components to change.
One or two of the projects were designed with Op-Amps in the circuit, but the author omitted the necessary connections or voltage supply for these devices. A newbie to electronics would be extremely disappointed if he/she constructed the circuit which failed to work.
There are many projects which appear to be fully functional and quite often, the author provides additional information on how the circuit works. It is a good book, but beware of some of the errors contained.
I attempted to find an update for some of the projects on Internet but was unable to find changes or modifications for Volume 1.2
My son got an "A" in a school project December 25, 2007 Dr. Wung (Georgia) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this book for my son as he asked me to help him with a school science project. He was very excited upon receiving the copy and started building the audio amplifier circuit right away. After some trial and errors (he did wire lines wrongly), he finally made it working. You can never imagine how happy he was. The cream of it is that his teacher gave him an "A" for the project. I am very proud of him. He told me he wanted to become an electronic engineer someday.
I give this book five stars for being a great help to my son.
Nice addition to my little library of electronic books December 8, 2007 Dr. Wung (Georgia) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Just like Alex, after I got the copy of the first volume, the clean and professional looking content of this book prompted me to buy the other volumes of the same title. Now, I have to go to my basement shop and start working on the tv modulator circuit.I am planning to build a complete home brewed closed circuit tv for surveillance purposes. Yeee haaaa!
Good for those who know the basics of assembling electronic circuits but not for all April 29, 2007 Power Guy (Atlanta) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
If you don't know how to etch a pcb board, nor drill a hole in a pcb, nor transfer a pcb pattern to the copper side of pcb, don't jump to buy this book. These basic skills are not discussed in this book. Go and buy other books that teach these skills.
If you know the basic skills though, you can buy this book. It can add to your collection of circuits.
Clean, clean, clean March 11, 2007 Alex [bear] Shimansky (Chicago) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Clean, clean, clean. Obviously, the authors and production staff did a good job.
I like it. Highly recommended.
