I purchased this headset as a replacement for my Turtle Beach surround sound headset which literally fell apart. I understood that I was not getting the same product but on the recomendation of the guys at PCGamer I went ahead with the purchase. It may be that I have an exceptionally large head but the ear cups do not sit snugly on my head. there is a disturbing gap at the bottom. The sound is fine but a bigger let down from the TB headset than I thought. For this price I was hoping to get a bit more than I got. I should have saved a bit more and gotten one of the recommended sets at the next price point.
On the other hand I have been using them around the house to listen to my IPod so that's a welcome change to the surround sound which had to plug into the back of the PC.

These are far superior then the first. build, and quality wise. The only thing I wish they did was have a high and low mic volume like the 5hv2. The elastic that holds the strap is somewhat odd but I don't really mind it. It's very light almost like a mouse. The cushion on these are like a leather type material soft and comfortable. I recommend getting these if you own the first or 5hv2.

I bought this headset solely because I needed a mic and headphones and I did not want to buy them separately. The headset is gorgeous and the price is reasonable. However, the sound quality is subpar. If you never had a good headset, you probably wouldn't notice it, but it sounds 'washed out'. Mic works fine, and it being retractable is handy. Given all of the above, 3/5.

you know how hard that age can be to please on christams morning...
